At this time, the State Budget is balanced and has excess funding. A couple years ago, the State paid several million dollars for the A&M Efficiency Study, which indicated close to $2 BILLION Dollars in efficiency savings thru changing how Kansas does business. Very little of these changes have actually been completed. $2 BILLION Dollars would go a very long way in balancing the State budget for many years to come, without laying people off, without raising taxes, and without cutting benefits. |

For the past two years, I supported additional funding for K-12 Education. During that time, funding was increased $200MM in 2017, another $100MM in January 2018, and another $500MM in May 2018. This totals $800MM overall. As a result, we have seen several School Administrators take excessive pay raises, such as seen in Wichita USD-259. We have also seen money spent on New School Buildings, New Bus Storage Buildings and New Astro-Turf at School Facilities. Yet, little has reached the Class Rooms and Teachers must still pay for supplies out of their own funds! |

We need to reduce or eliminate taxation on food. This is a basic necessity of life and should not be subjected to taxes! I would also like to see a "tax holiday week" for "back to school" supplies and clothing. This would help out many residents that struggle to purchase needed supplies required by the K-12 schools. Both these items can easily be paid via the 2017 Retro-Active $1.2 Billion Dollar Tax Increase that Kansan's were subjected to and are still paying! |
